Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. The State intends to make a noncompetitive purchase and enter into a contract for ND Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) Collection Kits with Gentueri Inc. The contract would be for 5 years with approximately 3,000 kits purchased each year. The collection device included in the CODIS Collection Kits is Gentueri GenSwab collection device designed for easy collection and long-term preservation of buccal samples to achieve high recovery of DNA and high quality genetic profiles. Buccal samples are collected using a foam swab on the GenSwab card. The foam swab is then flipped over on the preservation paper (GenSaver Color 2.0) to transfer the sample. GenSaver 2.0 specimen collection cards are treated with a proprietary chemistry allowing long-term preservation of DNA at ambient temperature. The foam swab is removed from the GenSwab card and the card is placed in the GenPouch for submittal to the Crime Lab. The samples collected on the Gentueri GenSwab can be stored at room temperature for more than 20 years with minimal degradation. Additionally, the Gentueri GenSwab sampling and extraction processes can be automated using the ThermoFisher CPA200 (Card Processing Automation) instrument that the Crime Lab already has.
