Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. There are no peak hours for this project. 2. The Contractor shall have a work crew at any closure site at all times during a lane closure, unless otherwise described elsewhere in this proposal. 3. The Contractor may utilize multiple lane closures in each direction. Lane closures will be limited to the length required for that day's work, up to a maximum of 1 mile. The maximum lane closure length may vary dependent upon traffic operations, as directed by the Engineer. If the Contractor elects to use multiple lane closures in the same direction, there must be a minimum of 2 miles between each lane closure. The Contractor shall schedule the placement of traffic control devices to accommodate each day’s closure. Accordingly, the Department will only pay for those traffic control devices considered reasonably necessary to protect the actual work area. When a lane closure is no longer required or is not necessary in the opinion of the Engineer, the Contractor shall have one hour, following notification by the Engineer, to open the closed lane(s) & shoulder(s) to traffic. After this one-hour period, the Contractor will be assessed damages. (see SPECIAL PROSECUTION AND PROGRESS (Assessments)) 4. A lane closure shall not be installed during nighttime hours, unless otherwise directed by the Engineer. Nighttime hours shall be defined as being from 1/2 hour before sunset to 1/2 hour after sunrise. 5. The Contractor may leave the lane closure up during overnight hours provided the lane closure will be utilized the following day. If the lane closure will not be utilized the following day, the Contractor shall have it removed prior to ½ hour before sunset. After this period, the Contractor will be assessed damages.
