Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of the Cold Milling Class 4 of the mainline is to remove all existing asphaltic concrete down to the concrete pavement below. The milling depth shall be increased or reduced, as directed by the Engineer. 1. The plans depict phasing sequences that are to be used in the construction of this project. Any deviation from these phasing sequences shall require the written approval of the Engineer. 2. The Contractor may utilize one lane closure in each direction. Lane closures will be limited to the length required for that day’s work. The maximum lane closure length may vary dependent upon traffic operations, as directed by the Engineer. The Contractor shall schedule the placement of traffic control devices to accommodate each day’s closure. Accordingly, the Department will only pay for those traffic control devices considered reasonably necessary in the opinion of the Engineer, the Contractor shall have one hour, following notification by the Engineer, to open the closed lane(s) & shoulder(s) to traffic. After this one-hour period, the Contractor will be assessed liquated damages. (see SPECIAL PROSECUTION AND PROGRESS (Assessments), paragraph B) 3. The Contractor shall have a work crew at the closure site at all times during a lane closure, unless otherwise directed by the Engineer. 4. All work around or on the ramps shall be performed while maintaining at least one lane of traffic on the ramps at all times, unless otherwise directed by the Engineer. 5. The time allowance for this project was determined based on using multiple bridge crews concurrently. Bid accordingly.
