Specifications include, but are not limited to: Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic and the increase in positive tests in Ada and other counties, IDOC residents are in COVID lock-down and must remain in their cells and/or units. This means our residents are being served food cell side, and not in a cafeteria location. This requires different foods, such as shelf stable food to be procured and distributed. This exemption is to buy shelf stable food as needed from any available vendor inventory. Providing shelf stable foods requires less preparation and less movement of people which is the requirement while in quarantine and cohort status to maintain the health and safety of residents and staff. Due to the tight supply chain and high rise in food costs, we need flexibility to source from multiple vendors to take advantage of bulk buys, expedient delivery or special sales.
