Specifications include, but are not limited to: (A) Existing basement shall be removed to an elevation of 6 inches below the existing basement grade and all material remaining shall be removed to present a neat appearance for inspection, prior to backfilling.; (B) Concrete slabs and walls, including basement flooring shall be broken and removed. If necessary, driveways shall be removed to edge of existing returns. Saw-cutting at street will not be required.; (C) Existing Utilities have been (or will be) shut off by the Department of Utilities. All above basement grade utilities, wiring, piping, etc. shall be removed from the site and disposed of properly. All below basement grade utilities may remain in place. Contact Gary Ogden at (402) 317-0444 at least 48 business hours prior to commencement of work. Notification to Diggers Hotline shall be responsibility of Contractor.; (D) Prior to beginning backfill operations, the contractor shall remove all wood, lath, plaster, or other deleterious material from area to be filled, and notify the Owner (Gary Ogden) who will provide an inspector for preliminary inspection of the site, and approval to proceed with backfilling operations as described herein.; (E) All basements, pits, wells, cisterns, or other open voids shall be backfilled with run gravel, sand, or earth. Sand and/or gravel (if used) shall be mixed with dirt at a rate not to exceed 50%.; (F) The final grade of backfill shall conform to the existing surrounding grade in such a manner as to present a neat well-drained appearance, and to prevent water draining unnecessarily onto adjacent properties.; (G) The contractor shall clear the site of haul-away debris before grading operations have begun. Contractor shall remove and dispose of all dead trees, brush, rubbish, and any other junk or debris. Contractor shall remove live trees only as needed in order to complete the demolition.; (H) All refuse removed from the site shall be disposed off accordingly and in conformance with all local, state, and federal laws. At all times fugitive dusting from demolition shall be minimized by using BMP (Best Management Practices). BMP’s may include actions such as using a fine water mist, cease work during windy conditions, ETC.; (I) The Owner shall be notified at least 48 hours prior to beginning of demolition. Additionally, Owner shall be notified prior to backfilling.; (J) Contractor is not responsible for seeding or concrete replacement.; (K) Any salvage prior to demolition may not begin until there is a signed contract between the contractor and city.
