Specifications include, but are not limited to: RRI would like to purchase one HOLZ-HER ACCURA 1556 edgebander for our furniture manufacturing operation. The current edgebander is old and starting to require increased amounts of maintenance which is greatly decreasing production time. RRI wants to purchase an edgebander that has a glue jet cartridge, glue application system, which would eliminate the old glue pot system. The current edgebander that RRI is using has a glue pot which requires a high amount of maintenance and requires a long heat up time. Glue with the ACCURA 1556 heats up glue in three minutes or less and most other edgebanders take up to 15 minutes. Not having the glue pot maintenance and wait time will greatly increase production and efficiency. Switching colors of glue is also a fast process with the glue jet cartridge application system. RRI utilizes wood trim for a vast majority of furniture so the edge bander must be compatible to apply wood trim as well as plastic edgebanding. RRI is looking for an edgebander that can run PUR adhesive without any additional equipment. The PUR adhesive is the preferred glue for wood trim. The ACCURA 1556 has a shallow four-degree approach angle. Most other edgebanders are typically eight degrees. A four-degree approach angle is the preferred approach for solid wood edge material. The ACCURA 1556 also has a synchro drive belt feed system that is unique to HOLZ-HER. All other edgebanders utilize pinch rollers which are only effective with coil material. The synchro belt magazine is designed specifically to handle solid wood and laminate strips better then the pinch roller systems. RRI requires a 6-8 week delivery from date of issued PO to vendor. RRI requires onsite installation and training at no additional cost to RRI. RRI also requires prompt service from the manufacturer that has a service technician dedicated to the Bismarck, ND service area. RRI would require that the vendor take our existing SCM Olimpic S215 edgebander on trade. The existing edgebander was purchased in 2003. Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification.
