Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project is heavy brushing of ~7.5 miles of road and ~0.58 miles of ‘moderate’ road brushing, as shown on Attachment B – Brushing Map. These roads are “grown in” with alder/cottonwood growing in center of roadway and the cut/fill slopes and the ditch are heavily regenerated with advanced regeneration. Segment 3 is drivable and will only require brushing of cut/fill slopes and ditch. Segment 4 was brushed open for pickup travel recently, however cut stems and “jo-pokes” still exist in the running surface of road and will be required to be grubbed. See bulleted items below for specifications on brushing requirements: • Brushing shall extend 4 feet above ditch lines, 4 feet up on cut slope if no ditch line is established, and 4 feet beyond established road width on the fill slope side of roadway. In the section requiring heavy brushing, grubbing stumps left in the road prism will be required. Turnouts are considered part of the road width. • Brushing and grubbing stumps from ditch is required, maintain/re-establish ditch to ensure it is functional. • Road ditch relief culverts are to be maintained within road segments for brushing. Clean inlet/outlet, ensuring no impediment to flow (this will generally be achieved through brushing alone). • All brush generated from work will be piled on fill slope side of road (unless otherwise directed by Forest Officer). No piling may occur within the Streamside Management Zone (these are not marked on-site currently).
