Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Helena-West Helena is requesting estimates from qualified contractors for the construction of a new animal shelter facility. The shelter must have enough stalls to contain at least 12 dogs of a variety of sizes. The shelter must include an enclosed running area for animals and allow for humane climate and living conditions for the animals. It must also be secure, and have the ability to add cameras to the facility for live feeds. The deadline for construction would be 30 days from the start date, notwithstanding weather events. The estimated and preferred open date will be October 1, 2022. One stated goal by funders is that it be as similar in construction as an existing animal control shelter located in Lee, County Arkansas, and operated by the local animal humane society there.
