Specifications include, but are not limited to: MOTOR COACH REQUIREMENTS: Any motor coach to be provided for student, parent/chaperone and staff transportation must utilize Diesel Fuel. The Board requires motor coaches that are safe and modern (late model), with effective climate control, comfort, wireless internet availability, DVD/TV entertainment and restroom(s) available on larger capacity vehicles. All motor coaches shall be seasonally equipped and serviced for passenger comfort and reliability, particularly during temperature extremes. All motor coach vehicles shall be equipped in accordance with all applicable state regulations and safety standards. The vehicles shall also meet all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).; COMPANY REQUIREMENTS: A. Bidder certifies that a criminal history background check has been performed on all employees that may come into contact with Kenton County School District students. Any employees with the following offenses will not be permitted to have any contact with our students: sex-related offense convictions, convictions against minors, felony offense convictions against persons or property, alcohol violation convictions within two years from date of check, drug-related offense convictions and deadly weaponrelated offense convictions. Any driver assigned to transport Kenton County Schools’ students, parents/chaperones and staff with a criminal conviction must get prior approval from the Kenton County Schools Transportation Director prior to driving. Drug testing on all employees is required for any drivers of our students, parents/chaperones and staff. Any Driver testing positive cannot drive for the Kenton County School District.; B. The Driver is to remain with the motor coach during trips to assure no thefts take place. All motor coaches must be equipped in accordance with all State and Federal safety standards and all drivers must be appropriately licensed for intra and interstate driving (valid commercial driver license by the State of Kentucky). A copy of each Driver's license and valid DOT Card is to be presented to the Kenton County Schools Transportation Director prior to any trips. All drivers shall have a safe driving record and annual physicals. All employees must be appropriately trained for their area of work including drivers and service/repair employees. Drivers shall have prior knowledge of the trip itinerary. All Federal Motor Carrier Safety Commission regulations shall be obeyed by the driver/contractor at all times.; C. When a trip has been completed a Trip Report by School, Destination, and Dates must accompany the invoice prior to payment. Awarded firm is responsible for all driver's meals. The school shall provide a hotel room for the driver(s). The firm is to pay for a single occupancy room at the hotel where the students/parents are staying. A Copy of the hotel bill must accompany the invoice. The board/school shall reimburse the awarded firm at cost for the hotel stay. All tolls shall be itemized on the invoice and paid back to the awarded bidder at cost. Mileage charges will commence upon arrival at school and end upon leaving the school after trip has taken place. All other expenses are the awarded contractor's responsibility.; SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS: The Board reserves the right to cancel this agreement with the awarded bidder immediately if any unsafe practices are experienced. The Board also reserves the right to cancel this agreement for any reason if a thirty (30) days’ notice is provided. The Board reserves the right to audit maintenance records of the awarded firm. Each school reserves the right to provide routes for any scheduled trip. Each school reserves the right to select specific drivers (if available). Food and drinks must be allowed on vehicles. The riders that bring food and drink on the motor coach shall be responsible for cleaning up the debris generated. The Board reserves the right to cancel a scheduled trip up to 48 hours in advance at no charge.; STOPS AND MEAL STOPS: Stops and meal stops must be made as close to the entrance of the location as safely possible. At no time shall students, parents/chaperones or staff be permitted to exit from the vehicle into a roadway.; Planning documents will identify the location and source of each meal. For meals, each bus shall transport students to one (1) dining location at which all students on that bus must remain. Chaperones and students are to be dropped off and picked up as close to the dining entrance as possible and supervised closely as they enter and exit. When multiple buses are involved, each bus may be assigned to a different location, but students may not leave the site to which their bus has been assigned in accordance with The Kenton County Board of Education/KSBA policy 09.36.
