Specifications include, but are not limited to: A Class I Material Transfer Vehicle (MTV) will have load restrictions during placement of the bottom lift from 547th Avenue to the end of the project. The Class I MTV shall be equipped with a “warning light” system having a daytime visibility that is satisfactory to the Engineer and which activates at a pre-determined limiting value of not more than 16 tons, and remains activated until the quantity of material in the hopper becomes less than that pre-determined limiting value. [Example: Maximum hopper capacity is 25 tons and a “warning light” activates (e.g., comes on, changes color, starts blinking, etc.) when the hopper is 60% full. The “predetermined limiting value” is 15 tons (0.6 x 25 ton)] A Class I MTV shall not be used to place asphaltic concrete in areas of load restrictions if the MTV’s hopper is loaded with 16 tons or more of material.
