Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The Short Term Temporary Traffic Signals shall be installed at construction work zones only when the conditions stated in Section “I. Description” are met. 2. When the Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal is not in service; a. signal heads and signing shall be covered or removed, and b. cones and portable rumble strips shall be removed. 3. The Contractor shall set up the advance signing and the Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal in accordance with the approved traffic control plan. 4. The Contractor shall be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal. 5. The traffic signals shall be kept operational at all times during use. If at any time, a traffic signal becomes nonoperational, the Contractor shall convert the signal location to a flagging installation with the appropriate signs and, if necessary, lights. 6. The Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal will not be allowed at locations with less than 1500’ between a “Stop Here on Red” sign and a railroad crossing or at locations where the intersection of a public road is within the “Stop Here on Red” signs. 7. Any Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal that violates the duration criteria in Section I shall be removed and the construction work zone shall be protected by flagging, concrete barriers, or other means meeting the approval of the Engineer.
