Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Schematic Design – Development of multiple concepts for review by MSU with a single concept chosen for advancement through design and construction. Design considerations will include but may not be limited to: a. Quality of the pedestrian environment and its connection to existing and future pedestrian corridors; b. Service, Emergency, and Delivery vehicle access; c. Integration of and connection to existing and future campus buildings; d. Integration of and connection to existing campus landscape and the campus landscape master plan; e. Creation or enhancement of a sense of place along the Grant Street corridor; f. Access solution for the Strand Union Building (SUB); g. Access solution for the Visual Communications Building; h. ADA Accessibility; i. Integration of features which support University initiatives such as water stewardship and carbon neutrality goals; j. Connection to and enhancement of Veterans Park; 2. Design Development – Refine the MSU chosen concept and work with campus constituents to ensure the design meets the needs of the campus community.; 3. Construction Documents – Development of a complete set of design drawings capable of being bid and constructed within the MSU identified budget and timeline.; 4. Construction Estimates – Provide cost estimates of varying detail at all design phases: schematic design, design development, and construction document. Includes preliminary lump sum estimates and detailed line-item budget estimates. Includes working with contractors and equipment suppliers as needed.; 5. Bidding Assistance – Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, answer questions/clarifications during bidding, and review and evaluate submittals and claims for extra costs.; 6. Construction Administration – Participate in on-site construction meetings, provide construction inspections, prepare punch list, and advise MSU regarding interpretations of contract documents and payments to contractors when requested.
