Specifications include, but are not limited to: exterior masonry restoration/repairs to existing brick and limestone at the “Head Shed” of the building.; A. Provide mortar and masonry restoration as described herein.; B. Mechanically and manually rake existing loose and/or damaged joints min. 3/4” deep, in quantity as indicated on the drawings, and as directed by the Architect during the tooling of joints. Enlarge any voids or holes, except weep holes, and completely fill with mortar. Point up all joints at and adjacent work to provide a neat, uniform appearance.; C. Provide pneumatic raking where applicable and as needed for proper joint restoration.; D. Remove and dispose existing metal accessories in mortar joints unless currently being utilized as a functioning building component.; E. All masonry shall be washed, removing all dirt, rust, mold, mildew, moss, etc.; F. Carefully disconnect and reconnect signage, downspouts, conduit, light fixtures, security systems supports and their operating components, window security grates, etc. for a complete and proper job.; G. The new mortar shall match the existing mortar in color, texture and tooling.; H. The new mortar shall have greater vapor permeability and shall be softer (measured in compressive strength) than the masonry units.
