Specifications include, but are not limited to: Child Care RAPs will assist in improving the education and training that Early ChildhoodEducators receive, thus allowing them to improve their understanding of child developmentand improve the quality of Child Care Services available. High quality training and supports forEarly Childhood Educators are important to the child care field. In 2015, the Institute ofMedicine (IOM) and the National Research Council (NRC) were commissioned to explore thescience of child development, particularly looking at implications for Early Childhood Educatorswho work with children from infancy through early elementary years. This research resulted ina report entitled “Transforming the Workforce for Children Birth Through Age 8: A UnifyingFoundation.” In this report, IOM and NRC offer recommendations for states to considerregarding improvements to the quality of professional practice of Early Childhood Educatorswho work with children from birth through age eight (8)—specifically, building a foundationthat improves professional learning and practice of the birth-through-eight (8) workforce.
