Specifications include, but are not limited to: Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) International is the sole provider of the CIT coordinator course and train-thetrainer course. The CIT coordinator certification course assists the Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) staff and community partners serving as CIT coordinators to learn about the important role the coordinator fills and to become certified as a CIT coordinator. This eight (8)-hour course of instruction, that is delivered virtually in four (4)-hour sessions conducted on consecutive days, covers the tasks and topics of the various coordinators' roles and how to work with each other to develop or reform their community's crisis response system. By attending this course and successfully passing the required testing, attendees will be recognized and certified as a CIT coordinator for three (3) years. Certification as a CIT coordinator is a prerequisite to attend the train-the-trainer course. The CIT train-the-trainer course is a four (4)-day in-person course of instruction. The course is necessary for all CIT coordinators that are responsible or co-responsible for conducting a forty (40)-hour weeklong CIT training for law enforcement. Class size of the train-the-trainer course will be limited to no more than twenty (20) students. Upon successful completion of the course, the attendee will receive a certificate of completion for the train-the-trainer course and a USB drive containing all materials required to conduct a CIT 40-hour training. In addition, those successfully completing the course will have access to the materials and any updates online for as long as they remain certified as a CIT coordinator.
