Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Gene Conservation Laboratory (GCL) is soliciting bids for DNA extraction kits to be used on Pacific and alleged Atlantic salmon liver, heart, muscle, scale epithelial cells, eyedembryo, fin tissue; geoduck clam muscle and siphon epidermis tissue; sea cucumber muscle tissue; king crab hemolymph, muscle, hepatopancreas, eyed-embryo tissue; Northern Pacific kelp species tissues (and other issues with high amounts of PCR inhibitors); moose biopsy tissues; and bear hide, hair muscle, blood, saliva swabs and fecal swab samples. Although GCL cannot guarantee a minimum quantity of purchase, based on projections, GCL anticipates needing approximately 400 – 1,200 96-well plates and 250-500 single sample extractions each year.
