Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. DOT Permits. Develop and implement a Traffic Control Plan for the temporary detour. Acquire necessary road/lane closure permits from Alaska Department of Transportation. 2. Temporary Detour. Install and remove temporary detour roadways where required. Roadways shall be a minimum of twenty-four wide (or two each twelve feet lanes). Roadway surface shall be a minimum of one foot of compacted D-1 and maintained while it is in use, including dust control. Fabric shall be placed between the track ballast and the detour material to preserve the integrity of the ballast. Traffic will be detoured approximately fifty feet south of the existing crossing. Note the temporary crossing surface will be installed by others over both sets of track. 3. Roadway Approach Construction. Roadway approaches will be paved following the completion of the concrete panel installation. Roadway approaches will be constructed with four inches of D-1 aggregate base course and four inches of HMA Type II in two each two inch lifts. Contractor will be responsible for the removal and disposal of existing asphalt. Asphalt shall extend fifty feet either side of the crossing and be a minimum of twenty-four feet (or two each twelve feet lanes). HMA will tie into existing asphalt road. D-1 shall be used to shoulder up the pavement edges. All track work will be completed by others. The approach grading will conform to the technical standards of roadway, trail and utility facilities in the ARRC Right-of-Way (Appendix B). 4. Signs Installation. Install new advance warning signs for both directions of traffic. W10-1 and R15-2. Signs need to be installed per MUTCD. 5. Surface applied MMA. Surface applied traffic markings for all stop bars, centerline double yellow, and FOG lines. Pavement marking will be required the full length of new asphalt and installed per the MUTCD.
