Specifications include, but are not limited to: SPECIFICATIONS FOR SPEECH/LANGUAGE SERVICES (BILINGUAL ENGLISH/SPANISH): • Speech Pathologist must have ASHA certification and be licensed by the State Board of Examiners for SpeechLanguage Pathology and Audiology.; • Speech Therapist must have a TEA certification.; • Provide Speech/Language Therapy to students, according to Individual Education Programs IEP).; • Conduct testing to establish eligibility for speech services, adhering to the TEA and SSAISD guidelines.; • Support Assistive Technology (AT) devices when those devices are part of the IEP.; • Effective utilization of the District’s electronic IEP management system. Training will be provided by SSAISD.; • Write evaluation reports that meet the guidelines and standards of the District.; • Participate in ARD/IEP meetings of all types, adhering to the guidelines of the District.; • Participate in the Response to Intervention (RTI) process on campuses, according to the guidelines of the District.; • Complete referral paperwork for speech evaluations, according to the guidelines of the District.; • Maintain student specific service logs to document the number of sessions, times, activities, and progress toward mastery of the IEPs for each student on the caseload.; • Complete IEP progress reports for students, adhering to established timelines.; • Consult with parents, teachers, and District staff on matters related to speech/language eligibility and services.; • Monitor academic progress of speech-only students on assigned caseload.; • Attend required departmental meetings related to speech/language services and other related services.; • Travel from location to location within the District in order to maintain a regular schedule and attend meetings, evaluations, and trainings.; • Provide supervision to Speech Language Therapy Assistants (SLPAs) who are employed by the agency with respect to licensing board guidelines.; SPECIFICATIONS FOR AUDIOLOGY SERVICES: • Audiologist must have ASHA certification and be licensed by the State Board of Examiners for SpeechLanguage Pathology and Audiology.; • Conduct hearing screenings and basic hearing evaluations.; • Provide consultation to educational staff regarding the use of FM systems.; • Provide teacher consultation regarding students’ listening needs, amplification, and strategies for improved communication.; • Provide consultation regarding the development of hearing-related goals and objectives for student IEPs.; • Utilize audiology equipment required to conduct: hearing and evaluation screenings, hearing aid and FM assessment.; • Recommend appropriate accommodations and modifications for students receiving audiology services.; • Provide counseling, consultation, and guidance to parents, students, and other school personnel on matters relating to hearing loss, hearing technology, and classroom acoustics.; • Effective utilization of the District’s electronic IEP management system. Training will be provided by SSAISD.; • Travel from location to location within the District in order to maintain a regular schedule and attend meetings, evaluations, and trainings.; • Assist in gathering information used to monitor IEP progress reports for students with hearing impairments, adhering to established timelines.
