Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Manning the front desk at all times from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., one (1) guard shall be stationed at the front desk while the second guard is on foot patrol in the building complex.; B. Monitor persons entering and exiting facilities identified in Item 3, above. This will include inspecting Caltrans Identification (ID) cards and registering guests and Caltrans employees that do not have Caltrans ID in their possession and ensuring that the personnel and public possess proper identification at all times.; C. Prepare visitor passes as necessary to process the visitors into the Caltrans facility as quickly as possible. For groups of visitors larger than ten (10) and with prior notification from Caltrans Contract Manager, the SG1 may direct these visitors to their meeting location(s) after they have been identified and processed.; D. Restrict pedestrian access into the facility to only those individuals with official Caltrans business. If the individual does not have official business in the Caltrans facility, the SG1 is to request the individual to leave the Caltrans facility. Restrooms are for Caltrans employees, their guests, and any member of the public conducting official Caltrans business, and shall not be accessible by the general public.; E. Interact with the public to answer routine questions.; F. Inspect Caltrans facilities to ensure doors, windows, and roofs are secure and lights are turned off in unoccupied facility areas.; G. Protect Caltrans property and prevent theft by physical presence while making security checks throughout the Caltrans facility.; H. Monitor equipment and property being removed or brought into the building to ensure that all equipment/property movement is Caltrans sanctioned by the Caltrans Contract Manager.; I. Report unusual conditions to the proper State personnel, including California Highway Patrol (CHP) and/or local Fire and Police Departments, and provide any necessary and/or required information. This includes making calls to emergency personnel in the event of fire, medical or emergencies.; J. Take appropriate action during any disturbance or problem to restore order within reason and within the parameters of the law. Appropriate action may include contacting CHP and/or local authorities for assistance, if necessary.; K. Maintain security logs.; L. Maintain daily activity logs.; M. Write incident reports as necessary.; N. Operate complex computer and alarm system equipment that monitor for fire and intrusion.; O. Call the Caltrans Contract Manager or the Supervisor of the Caltrans Contract Manager if the guard has questions.; P. Monitor visitors as they enter State property and provide reception duties, such as, but not limited to, maintaining a log of visitors and vendors and notifying State personnel that they have visitor(s) or mail packages received in the front desk and monitor security cameras.; Q. Complete training on all matters it deems necessary or appropriate including, but not limited to, state policy regarding drug awareness, sexual harassment, workplace violence, and discrimination.; R. Complete training when assigned to monitor and operate electronic computer systems.; S. If Contractor is temporarily unable to provide services, the state, during the period of Contractor’s inability to provide services, reserves the right to accomplish the work by other means and shall be reimbursed by Contractor.
