Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Structures shall be demolished and removed in compliance with Kentucky Building Code, current edition, and the requirements indicated herein. B. Based on the situation or condition of the property, the Code Compliance Division Manager/Public Works Inspector can alter the requirements listed herein. C. Public Works will be responsible for guidance and to provide scope of work for sinkhole repairs. D. All earthwork and trenching shall be considered unclassified. No separate payment will be made for rock excavation, unless otherwise noted. E. All rock must be removed by mechanical means. NO BLASTING IS PERMITTED. 2.2 DEMOLITION POLLUTION CONTROL A. Water sprinkling, temporary enclosures, chutes, and other suitable methods shall be used for dust suppression in compliance with Kentucky Air Quality guidelines. B. Water shall not be used when it creates hazardous or objectionable conditions such as flooding, erosion, sedimentation, or pollution. 2.3 PROTECTION A. Safe passage of persons around the area of demolition shall be provided. Operations shall be conducted to prevent injury to people and damage to adjacent buildings, structures, and other facilities as directed by the Kentucky Building Code. B. Interior and exterior shoring, bracing, or supports shall be provided to prevent movement, settlement or collapse of structures to be demolished.
