Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.Acquisition of a reasonable degree of familiarity and knowledge of DHS medical assistance programs andSNAP program rules and practices necessary to represent the department at assigned administrativehearings;2.Legal representation of DHS at administrative hearings, as assigned and accepted by attorney;3.Appearance at administrative hearings and conferences on the date and at the time scheduled, and in theforum and manner noticed;4.Research and writing, as appropriate;5.Adequate case preparation, including conducting appropriate discovery, reviewing discovery responses,meeting with relevant witnesses, and reviewing evidence in advance of the hearings;6.Introduction of witness testimony through direct examination and conducting the cross-examination of theopposingparty’switnesses;7.Introduction of relevant exhibits, documents and evidence at hearings;8.Making opening and closing statements at hearings;9.Participating in post-hearing meetings and follow-up;10.Maintaining communications with:a.DHS division representatives and witnesses;b.DHS Office of Chief Counsel;c.DHS Office of Appeals and Hearings;d.Office of Medicaid Provider Appeals.
