Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is requesting quotes to apply calcium chloride to gravel roads in RSA 21, Big Lake. Selected contractor shall be responsible for picking up the calcium chloride from Alaska Garden & Pet Supply (Anchorage) and coordinating application with the RSA Road Superintendent. Application must be completed no later than June 30, 2022. The calcium chloride is currently stored in 19 2,400-pound super sacks. Using the following method, apply calcium chloride to each road listed on the attached Road List per the listed application amounts: • Barricades and signs should be erected at each end of the roadway being treated to advise public that a dust control project is underway. Flag person(s) may be required to redirect traffic. • Water the road until it slightly saturated. • Apply the calcium chloride to the full width evenly. • Water the road until all the calcium chloride is dissolved. It’s better to water lightly and gently so you don’t wash away the calcium chloride into the ditch.
