Specifications include, but are not limited to: This work is for the removal and replacement of the top 2” of all asphalt surfaces on the site, and installation of a new zero-shape entry to the main entrance. The existing north parking lot is to NOT be included in this scope. Contractor to include restriping of the south parking lot to match the north parking lot’s diagonal orientation including (1) handicap stall.; Asphalt Paving: 1. Do not apply asphalt in conditions where subgrade is wet/damp or rain is expected before time required of adequate cure.; 2. Aggregates: a. Coarse Aggregate: ASTM D692, sound; angular crushed stone, or crushed gravel.; b. Fine Aggregate: ASTM D1073, sharp-edged natural sand or sand prepared from stone, gravel, or combinations thereof. ; c. Mineral Filler: ASTM D242, rock or slag dust, hydraulic cement, or other inert material.; d. Aggregate to be virgin in nature with no Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP).; 3. Asphalt Binder: a. AASHTO M 320 binder designation PG 58V-34.; 4. Mill a total depth of 2” from existing grade point on all surfaces.: a. Mill depth tolerance of a plus or minus 1/4 inch. ; 5. Hot Asphalt Placement: a. Machine place all asphalt wherever possible, spread uniformly and strike off. Apply by hand in areas unreachable by machine. ; b. Spread mix at a minimum temperature of 250 F. ; c. Regulate power machine speed to obtain a smooth, continuous surface free of pulls, and tears. ; 6. Apply 2” of new Asphalt with a tolerance of plus or minus ¼ inch.; 7. Compaction : a. Immediately begin compaction as soon as placement begins. ; b. Compaction to be completed before mixture reaches 185 deg F. ; 8. Apply finish rolling to remove rolling marks while asphalt is still warm. ; 9. Erect barricades to protect pavement until mixture has cooled to allow vehicle traffic. ; 10. Testing: a. Owner will provide a 3rd party testing agency to perform testing and inspections. ; b. Average Density: Maintain average density to 92 percent via ASTM D2041/D2041M, Rice Method. Minimum is 90 percent; Maximum is 96 percent. ; c. Replace hot-mix asphalt where core tests are taken. ; d. If testing fails specification, contractor to remove, replace and retest at their expense. ; Paint Striping: 1. Provide a standard Yellow color for standard stalls, and a Standard Blue for within the Handicap Stall.; 2. Comply with all ADA requirements for spacing and location of the Handicap stall in relation to the main entrance.; 3. Paint to be latex based marking paint, lead and chromate free, or an Engineered approved equivalent.
