Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is seeking offers to provide a standardized, web-based, software as a service (SAAS) application for collecting, storing, and reporting physical fitness assessment data for students in grades 3 and higher in accordance with all requirements stated herein. The Texas Education Code (TEC), §38.102 requires the commissioner of education to adopt an assessment instrument to be used by school districts in assessing student physical fitness. The statute also identifies specific factors the instrument must assess and requires criterion-referenced standards specific to a student’s age and gender based on the physical fitness level required for good health. Public schools are also annually required to report to the TEA the data resulting from these assessments. This application must facilitate accurate, efficient, and timely collection, storage, and reporting of the physical fitness assessment data in accordance with TEC §38.103.
