Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. This Section describes the requirements for temporary bypass pumping of sewage flows. Pumps are anticipated for use primarily when the system is prone to wet weather peaking events. 2. The scope of this specification is limited to providing the necessary labor, materials, and equipment required for bypass pumping of sewer flows around portions of existing sanitary sewers being repaired, replaced, or rehabilitated. All flow shall be pumped around the sewer segments during the emergency repair, installation and testing of the replacement sewer, sewer connections/reconnections, and the replacement of manholes. Contractor shall be responsible for all sewage pumping and any spills that may occur for any reason including, but not limited to, equipment failure, clogging, hose or pipe breakage, or high flows. Provide 24-hours per day, seven day per week observation/maintenance of the bypass pumping system when in operation. Bypassing operations shall be continuously monitored by alarms with capabilities for notification to critical project contacts; such as an auto-dialer communication system.
