Specifications include, but are not limited to: Proposers must have a current license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Arkansas. Proposers who do not possess a valid Arkansas license may not be selected even if they hold a valid license in good standing in another state. Education, training, and/or experience that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of qualifying education/experience is: A doctorate in veterinary medicine, with a current corresponding license to practice veterinary medicine issued in Arkansas. Spay/Neuter Veterinarian: Provides medical services (surgery) in support of the health care of animals and the administration of treatment or surgical procedures to animals. Prescribes medications, establishes treatment, and performs spay/neuter surgeries on animals. The City relies on judgment to plan and accomplish goals, as well as experience. Performs a variety of surgical spay/neuter tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to the head of the department. It is preferred that these procedures be conducted in the clinic of the selected Veterinarian. Proposer provides by schedule, at least twice a week, domestic dog and cat surgical sterilization in provided surgical suite or in the Veterinary Facility as agreed. Provides pre-surgery checks, and provides post-surgical follow-up either in person or through staff based contacts. Proposer understands that he/she will provide complete surgical care while the animal is in surgery, and will provide an assistant if needed.
