Specifications include, but are not limited to: removal of skid roads on 75-foot centers and subsequent removal of all unacceptable growing stock between rows including hardwoods. Residuals trees will be dominants or co-dominants, of acceptable form, (tallest, straightest, no forked stems, and be free of disease or insect infestation). A target basal area of 70 square feet/acre is to be achieved as well as a stocking of 200-250 trees/acre with the exception of the first thinning stands which will still require a target basal area of 70 square feet/ac. but achieve a stocking of 350-400 trees/ac. Minimal damage of residual stand is to be maintained which includes no trunk scarring as well as no damage to residual crowns.
