Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall plow and salt the selected Park and Rides and/or Interstate Rest Areas as detailed below. 1) The Contractor shall supply all materials and equipment necessary to remove snow and apply salt to the Park & Ride or Interstate Rest Area. All motorized equipment shall have at a minimum one high intensity amber strobe light mounted such that it can be seen from all angles. The salt application equipment shall be such that the Contractor can control the amount of salt applied to the paved surface. 2) The paved surfaces shall have the snow removed by plowing and an application of salt applied to melt the remaining snow and to help reduce any falling snow from adhering to the paved surface. The concrete walkway areas shall be shoveled, and an application of salt shall be applied to the surface. 3) Snow Removal services for the site(s) will be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as needed. It is expected that services will be initiated (by phone call) when snow accumulation is greater than 2”. 4) The Contractor shall be called by the Transportation Area Maintenance Supervisor (TAMS) when their services are required. They will respond within 1 hour of the call or at a time specified by the TAMS. Contractor’s will not be authorized or reimbursed for plowing services provided without the express preauthorization of the TAM. 5) Depending on the needs of the Districts and the intensity of the storm, the Contractor may be required to plow in the early morning, at noon time and in the evening. 6) Each time the Contractor is required to plow and/or salt the Contractor shall be compensated at the firm fixed price provided on the Cost sheet (lump sum bid) per call out. 7) The Contractor is advised that there may be parked vehicles in the Park and Rides as well as the Rest Areas and the Contractor will have to plow around these vehicles. Plowing operations shall not leave snow behind these vehicles that will prevent them from exiting. 8) Contractor shall take care not to damage buildings, guardrails, curbs, and automobiles. Contractor will make repairs to material damaged during performance of these services. Determination of the need for and extent of repair is the sole discretion of the State of Vermont Contract Coordinator. 9) The Contractor and his/her employees will be subject to all applicable State and Federal regulations for the conduct of personnel. 10) The Contractor will screen all personnel to assure the State that all employees are capable of performing the services in accordance with the RFP.
