Specifications include, but are not limited to: Camera The camera must be capable of image capture of a broad range of materials, including printed and bound books, manuscripts, flat artwork, maps, and translucent materials such as film or glass plate negatives or specimens. The camera must be completely integrated with the software allowing for complete control of operating functions, but manual operation must be possible. The unit should be capable of being detached from the stand and operated independently. The shutter on the camera should be mechanically or electronically controlled with a maximum speed of 1/250th second- and 150- megapixels DT 1XH 150 capacities. A high shutter speed with both mechanical and electronic control is critical to assure that image capture is completed without distortions caused by vibration of the original. Software Software should be available for both PC and Mac. It should provide the capability for complete control of camera functions, including settings for DPI and height adjustment. In addition to controlling camera functions, the software should control lighting and copy-stand operation, such as height adjustments. Complete image editing and automatic cropping are requirements. Ideally, vendors should offer periodic upgrades to maintain currency with underlying software systems. Minimally, the software should Capture One Raw workflow, also providing an ability to work with TIFF/JPEG images. System output must meet various standards established in the industry: FADGI 4-star, Metamorfoze Strict, and ISO19264 Level A image quality standards and JHOVE file format standards. Camera- and copy-stand The camera and copy stand provide a mounting for the work being digitized. The camera is on a powered, height-adjustable column controlled by the software settings or manually. The unit also provides power for adjusting the column and includes cable management, foot pedals, and USB connections. Vertical column movement is in intervals of 0.01.” Column must be mounted on a base large enough to support its operations and separated from the copy stand. The working deck height is preferably 30”. The copy deck is minimally a 40” x 30” laminated stock in a glass-free mode, while the glass cover mode would provide two 16 ½ x 27 ½ glassed platforms with independent pressurecontrolled lift with a 4” gutter gap. Lighting We prefer two free-standing 38-inch Photon LED lights and stands to provide greater control and flexibility with variable intensity controls with an FD controller. Lighting should meet the following specifications: 2NL-LED-V2A38-1.
