Specifications include, but are not limited to: 4 – Equipment Trailer, 20 Ton, Tandem Axle, Spring Suspension with Flip Ramps; 2 – Equipment Trailer, 20 Ton Capacity, Tilt Bed; 1. General: This specification is intended to cover a deck over axle tilt bed trailer. Trailer shall have a minimum rated payload capacity of 40,000 pounds, rated at no less than 50 mph. Rated GVWR shall be the payload capacity plus the weight of the trailer. Trailer bid shall be a tilt bed type as defined within the trailer manufacturing industry, with publically advertised specifications which are available to the general public. 2. Understructure and Frame: Understructure and frame shall be designed, constructed and rated for the full capacity of the trailer. Main frame shall be all welded construction of high strength steel I-beam, or structural shape of equal strength. Trailer deck frame shall be reinforced with a sufficient number of cross members to insure stability. Size and design of cross members and side rails shall allow loading and hauling equipment, such as hydraulic excavators or asphalt pavers which place heavy loads on the perimeter of the trailer. The trailer shall be capable of transporting this type of equipment without bending or flexing of the frame. 3. Load Deck: Shall be full width type which covers the wheels. Shall be 102” wide and have a minimum tilting load deck length of 24 feet with a stationary load deck of a nominal 4 feet minimum. Combined length of the stationary load deck and the tilting load deck shall be no less than 28’. Flooring shall be no less than 1 1/2” nominal thickness treated hardwood, or approved equal, laid longitudinally. Wheel well openings and all areas of trailer deck not covered with wood shall be covered with 1/4” minimum steel floor plate.
