Specifications include, but are not limited to: The proposed project includes the following items of work (reference attached permit drawings): • Construct about 0.5 miles of gravel surfaced walkway, including widened turnarounds to be built on top of the existing rubble mound breakwater. • Furnish and install a two-span pedestrian bridge, about 200-feet in total length with a mid-span pile supported pier from the shore to the breakwater. Bridge span structure is anticipated to be vendor (bridge manufacturer) designed under the design or construction contract portions of this work. Pile supported pier and concrete abutments will be designed by the Department. • Construct a 6-foot-wide concrete sidewalk with curbs along the front of the harbor and along the boat harbor parking and access areas. • Minor drainage, pavement and pedestrian improvements and utility adjustments if required. The purpose of this project is to: • Provide safe and reliable access to the community’s cemetery on Pitt Island. • Alleviate tourist-related pedestrian congestion in the harbor area and provide recreational opportunities for pedestrian traffic.
