Specifications include, but are not limited to: One or more companies that can provide an online/web-based Professional Learning Module to Vermont educators. The Vermont Agency of Education seeks proposals from one or more companies to create an online professional learning product that covers brain development and the neurological processes underlying language acquisition and the development of Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Reading Comprehension. The training product will make connections between the brain development, literacy skill acquisition, and how these underlying neurological processes should inform literacy instruction. The training product is intended to be used by all Vermont educators to provide knowledge around the science behind specific literacy skills of Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Reading Comprehension. The foundational content of the training needs to be appropriate for educators regardless of their content areas or grade levels they teach and provide information about the science of literacy skill acquisition.
