Specifications include, but are not limited to: Pole shall be designed such that the span wire attachment height is 2’ below pole top. The couplings shall have a threaded steel plug and shall be installed in the coupling. See attached drawings for permissible pole clamp assemblies and required pole clamp hardware. Traffic Poles Pole diameter and wall thickness shall be calculated in accordance with the AASHTO Standard Specifications for Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires, and Traffic Signals, 2013-6th Edition with current interims. Provide poles and arms that conform to: ASTM A595, grade A or B with minimum yield strength of 55 ksi, ASTM A572, minimum of grade 55, or ASTM A53 Provide poles, anchor bolts, base plates, and all other hardware that are hot-dip galvanized per ASTM A123, A153. Fasteners galvanizing can conform to ASTM F2329. Provide base plates that conform to ASTM A36 for grade 36 or ASTM 572 for grade 50. Ensure transverse plates have a thickness ≥ 2 inches. Provide a base plate for the vertical pole that fits inside a 36 in diameter concrete base. The maximum anchor bolt circle shall not be more than 24.5 inches. The maximum anchor bolt diameter shall not be more than 2.25 inches. The bottom pole diameter shall not be less than 16.25 inches at the base of the pole and the hand hole shall be a minimum of at least the pole base diameter above the base plate.
