Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University of North Dakota is soliciting proposals from experienced and qualified media companies in order to maximize the revenue, reach, and exposure for its television distribution rights. We encourage builders to create proposals that will serve our existing fan base and reach new fans. Ultimately, we are seeking a true partnership that will provide our University with quality and innovative media assets that will differentiate UND among its peers.; 1. Economic Model: • Identify rights fee guarantees and/or revenue shares for television.; 2. Sales Structure: Going forward, it is UND’s desire to have a streamlined selling process. The organization is willing to consider all potential partnership structures but would prefer to avoid a co-selling structure that is competitive in nature. The volume of commercial inventory, number of features, and enhancements are to be mutually agreed upon. Please outline your vision for the sales process and inventory splits for University of North Dakota TV programming.; 3. Distribution Plan Television: The University of North Dakota is looking to maximize its exposure and reach. UND is open to partners interested in broadcasting the games in the primary market of North Dakota and Minnesota, as well as the secondary markets within the team’s home territory. If the winning bidders do not have the capability to broadcast games in the secondary markets, UND reserves the right to negotiate deals in these territories. The television broadcast rights will not include rights to sublicense games to online service providers. The broadcast partner will be responsible for all production costs, including talent. Data rights are reserved by UND but can be used within broadcasts. Please submit a coverage map detailing your potential distribution with your proposals. UND’s intent is to deliver maximum coverage of its athletic teams bringing positive attention to the university which includes out of market television stations/networks (e.g. TSN, Winnipeg or Minneapolis TV stations) stations to air the program feed at the UND’s discretion and out of market station/network availability. This includes live event coverage on linear television and digital platforms, on demand content, and other assets within your company that will contribute to maximize coverage and content of UND’s athletic teams. Your proposal should address the areas listed below at a minimum. We encourage creativity and innovation.; I. Content; a. Clearance of live programming; i. Men’s Hockey: 1. All home games, subject to media relationships at the conference level. UND does not control rights to away games; those rights are held by the other member institutions and the conference office. We encourage dialogue about away games being produced and aired with UND, the conference office, and the host institution. UND’s expectation is to use the program feed on NCHC.tv, the exclusive streaming platform of the NCHC. Conference regulations prohibit live streaming content everywhere except NCHC.tv, however a platform requiring authenticated service is acceptable. UND has the right to have university personnel showcased during the broadcast to promote the university. ; ii. Football: 1. All Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) games, subject to media relationships at the conference level. Currently, the MVFC allows conference games to be produced by the away team. UND’s expectation is to use the program feed on ESPN3/ESPN+ and UND’s website. UND has the right to have university personnel showcased during the broadcast to promote the university. UND nor the MVFC hold rights to non-conference away games. While it is desirable to showcase these games for our fans, this RFP can’t grant rights for those games. Those rights are held by the host institution and/or it’s conference office.; iii. Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Women’s Volleyball, Women’s Soccer, and Softball: 1. All home games, subject to media relationships at the conference level. We encourage dialogue about away games being produced and aired. UND’s expectation is to use the program feed on the streaming home of the conference and UND’s website. As it does with all sports, UND expects quality production value with these sports which includes but is not limited to multiple cameras with quality lenses, replays, graphics, etc. UND has the right to have university personnel showcased during the broadcast to promote the university.; iv. Other Sports: 1. Consideration for home event coverage. UND’s expectation is to use the program feed on the streaming home of the conference and UND’s website. UND has the right to have university personnel showcased during the broadcast to promote the university.; v. Recruiting Specials: 1. UND’s desire is to have live 60 minute (or more) signing day specials for various sport programs on their respective signing days. This will be a year-by-year and sport-by-sport approach as each sport is unique and the recruiting calendar continues to evolve.
