Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. On slopes >35% and < 45% an excavator will be required unless otherwise approved by the Contract Supervisor. Slopes < 35% does not guarantee that a Dozer will be permitted. B. Equipment used must be washed by the Contractor and inspected by the Contract Supervisor prior to commencement of work. C. Prior to operation, the Contractor and the Contract Supervisor will visit the harvest units to be treated and agree on piling and site-preparation needs. D. The Contractor will supply qualified equipment operator(s) at all times. E. The Contract Supervisor may temporarily suspend operations under weather conditions unsuitable for continuing work; the period of such suspension shall not be deemed a breach of the terms of this Agreement. F. The Contractor will leave 10 to 15 tons per acre of slash that is 3 inches or larger in diameter. G. All piles will be clean, constructed with an excavator, 6 feet or greater in height, and compacted with piling equipment to a sufficient degree to allow complete burning. H. Piles will be constructed within forwarder trails or in the largest opening available and not beneath any portion of the crown of a residual over-story tree. If spacing of residual trees makes this impractical, piles will be constructed in the largest openings available. I. Where site preparation is specified by the Contract Supervisor, the Contractor will expose bare mineral soil on 30 to 35 percent of the area. On forwarder trails, contractor will expose mineral soils on 50% of the trail. J. Operations will be conducted only under relatively dry soil-moisture conditions (20% or less soil moisture).
