Specifications include, but are not limited to: DPBHS is soliciting bids for a 4-bed crisis bed program to be located in lower Kent County or Sussex County, Delaware. The program is to serve all youth regardless of gender and each youth is to have a single-bed room. The residential crisis bed service will provide short term (average length of stay 3-7 days) emergency stabilization for those children who require 24/7 support due to behavioral health problems but do not require inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. The purpose of these beds is to provide a safe, supervised setting that helps de-escalate crisis, works with youth to strengthen skills necessary to return to their living arrangement, reviews current medications plans and coordinates with the child and family’s current behavioral health treatment provider for continued behavioral health care. In the event the child is not currently receiving behavioral health services, the program will work with the child and family to connect to appropriate behavioral health care (either outpatient or referral for higher level of care). The program also will provide consultation with the caregivers regarding behavior management in the home. The crisis bed program will be designed to observe, evaluate, stabilize and make recommendations for ongoing treatment goals.
