Front Axle. a. I-bean type, 12,000 rated capacity. b. Suspension to be parabolic tapered leaf spring 12,000 lbs. rated with heavy duty shocks. 3. Rear Axle. a. A single drive axle, full floating, single reduction, heavy duty type that has a minimum weight rating of not less than 21,000 lbs. b. Suspension to be 20,000 lbs. rated air ride suspension with heavy-duty shock absorbers. c. Rear axle air bags to incorporate an air bag dump switch or valve located inside the cab near the driver. This switch/valve to have a warning light in the dash to illuminate when in the dump position. Rear suspension air bags shall automatically inflate at a speed greater than five (5) miles per mile if switch is not on. d. Gear ratio to be determined. e. Rear axle to incorporate a no-spin axle differential or electronic traction control. Traction control switch is acceptable. f. On-spot or Insta-chain mounted to the rear axle with illuminated switch on dash. 4. Wheelbase to be 246 inches. Cab to axle 178.9 inches. Axle to end of frame 96 inches. 5. Brakes. a. Air only will be accepted with drum type brakes front and rear. b. Brake cans on rear axle to be 30/30 double-chambered type brake cans connected to automatic slack adjuster. S-cams to be used, wedge or flat cam actuators are not acceptable. c. Rear brake shoes size to be 16.5 inches by 7-inches wide. Premium brake block material. d. Brake cans on front axle to be a single 20 square inch long stroke chamber. e. Front brake shoe size to be 16.5 inches by 5-inches. Premium brake block material. f. Parking brake shall be manually operated with air applied to release brake. g. Air brakes to have a dual system required by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) par 49. Brake system to comply with all Federal Motor Safety Standards (FMVSS) applicable. h. Air brake system to have air dryer Bendix AD9 (NO SUBSTITUTE), and heated automatic reservoir drain valve Bendix DV2-12 (NO SUBSTITUTE) volt. i. Air brake Antilock Braking System (ABS) to be Bendix Antilock 4-channel Full Vehicle Wheel Control System (FVWCS) or equivalent.
