The dam was originally constructed in 1933. Prior to 1933, a timber crib structure was used to increase the depth of a natural pond. Currently, the dam serves recreational purposes (boating and fly fishing) at the Seyon Lodge State Park. The total length of the dam is approximately 450 feet, and the structural height of the dam is 18 feet at its maximum section. The upstream face of the dam consists of a concrete wall. The dam includes three spillways in addition to an intake for the water wheel (no longer in use). • The principal spillway, located near the right abutment, consists of a rectangular concrete/stone channel with stoplogs to control the water level. The spillway crest length is approximately 8.3 feet. It appears low-level gates may be embedded below this spillway. • Auxiliary spillway #,1 located near the left abutment, is a concrete chute spillway with a rounded crest. The spillway consists of five bays varying in lengths from 10.9 to 12.7 feet. A pier supported concrete walkway situated above the concrete bays provides access for foot traffic over the spillway. ; 1.
