Specifications include, but are not limited to: Asphalt binder and emulsion samples to be analyzed for conformance to project specifications. Laboratory performing the analysis must be accredited by the AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL). The laboratory must be accredited to perform the following AASHTO test methods: T48, T59, T240, T313, T314, T315, T316, and T350, as well as any other tests required in Section 702 of the most current version of the Alaska DOT\PF Standard Specifications for Highway Construction. Perform verification testing of PG Asphalt Binder in accordance with AASHTO R29. Estimate Sixty (60) verification samples per year. Perform classification testing of PG Asphalt Binder in accordance with AASHTO R29. Estimate Fifteen (15) classification samples per year. Perform verification of Emulsion in accordance with Section 702 of the most current version of the Alaska DOT\PF Standard Specifications for Highway Construction and Contract special provisions. Estimate Fifteen (15) verification samples per year. Section 7.13 of AASHTO R29-2 has been waived. Solubility testing conducted on the asphalt binder is not required. Perform testing per AASHTO R29 to verify the performance grade stated for the sample or classify the performance grade of the sample. Issue reports of testing to the Northern Region Materials Lab (NRML) within Five (5) business days from the receipt of samples. In the event that more than Two (2) samples are received within a period of Two (2) business days, then an extension of Five (5) business days from the date of receipt of the samples is allowed to complete testing and generate reports.
