Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Montana Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for the repair of damages to the Smelter Ave Overpass in Great Falls ; Complete the removal and replacement of all anchor rods in the bridge deck and anchor bolts in bents 2 and 3 prior to placement of new fascia beam or precast sidewalk in accordance with the plans and Special Provision EPOXY-GROUTED ANCHORS. Prior to placement of the new fascia beam or precast sidewalk, complete the repair of concrete spalls in the precast sidewalk and in the beams adjacent to the fascia beam in accordance with special provision CONCRETE REPAIR and install all diaphragm connection brackets. Place and center new fascia beam on existing bearing plates and at original bearing plate location. Place and align channel diaphragms nearest to original locations. Place new fiber reinforced fabric pads and existing precast sidewalk in final location. Make sidewalk-to-deck and sidewalk-to-beam connections as described below. Sidewalk to deck connection: Using the new anchor rods placed in accordance with Special Provision EPOXY-GROUTED ANCHORS as a placement guide, set the precast sidewalk in place. Using the new anchor rods, place the lower washer and then 2 inches of thermal rubber joint sealer or an alternate joint sealer approved by the Project Manager, into the socket on top of the lower washer. Once the joint sealer is set, place the upper washer and hand tighten nut until joint is slightly compressed. Either top off with remaining joint sealer to a smooth finish, flush with top of sidewalk, or cover with a PVC cap and seal with a waterproof exterior grade caulk, approved by the Project Manager. Sidewalk to fascia beam connection: using holes in sidewalk as a guide, drill holes into the fascia beam for anchor embedment, install anchor system and threaded rod per manufacturers recommendations, see sidewalk-to-deck connection (above) for finishing assembly. Tighten diaphragm connections. Install a compression seal approved by the Project Manager at the sidewalk ends. Reconnect existing bridge rail posts and guard fence to the sidewalk and fascia beam.
