Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Bituminous Sidewalk Bituminous sidewalk shall be 3” thick compacted and shall be placed in two lifts. Base course shall be 1.5” thick of ¾” binder (19 mm) and wearing course shall be 1.5” of 3/8” (9 mm) finish. Paving shall be conducted with a sidewalk paver. Hand placed bituminous sidewalk shall not be allowed except on small quantity, and as-needed where specifically approved by the Town of Salem, Municipal Serviced Department. • Concrete Sidewalks All work for Concrete Sidewalks shall be performed by qualified concrete workers. All form work, placing of concrete, leveling, floating, finishing, and troweling will be monitored for quality assurance by the Project Manager. Concrete product shall be 3000PSI, 3/8 or 1/2”, Class A micro-fiber added and batch per NHDOT Standards for sidewalks. Concrete sidewalks shall be built in independent rectangular slabs approximately five (5) feet long and separated by contraction joints approximately one -eighth (1/8) inch wide. Expansion joints shall be emplaced every 5 panels or as determined by the Project Manager of Public Works. Reinforcement shall conform to the requirements of ASTM Designation A-185 and shall weigh not less than forty-two (42) pounds per one hundred (100) square feet; 6 X 6, W2.9/W2.9, 6/6, 42#. Any and all reinforcement shall be laid and centered in the concrete slab with specific wire chairs as necessary. One-half-inch-thick pre-molded bituminous expansion joint material shall be placed to the full depth of each joint where reinforcement is used. Between these joints the walk shall be scored one (1) inch deep to form five-foot panels. ADA compliant ramps with truncated detectable warning panels will be paid per square yard complete in place. All materials required for installation, including labor, pavement, cleanup and incidentals required for compliance with all specifications shall be incorporated into the contract price. Sidewalk Curb R amps shall be formed to the line, grade and pitch, as specified by the Town of Salem standard specifications and details. Detectable warning surface shall be installed as specified and directed at regulated ramp locations (such as street intersections). Panels shall be uncoated cast iron meeting ADA requirements. Ramps shall be Class A micro-fiber reinforced concrete conforming to NHDOT Section 520 and placed at 4” thick. Ramps shall be set true to line and grade and meet all sidewalk and ramp specifications. Use of expansion joints between ramps and platforms may be required. Expansion joints shall be incidental to the contract. After proper setting/curing, all concrete work shall be covered with wet concrete curing blankets. The contractor will be responsible for wetting the blankets each day for seven consecutive days. Blankets should be secured accordingly during this time.
