Specifications include, but are not limited to: 02.4.4 PAINTING OF NEW STEEL All new steel used (if any) in this contract shall be prepared to at least “near white” SSPC-SP-10 standard and coated with a two component, weld-through primer at the steel manufacturer’s or supplier’s facilities, prior to shipment to the construction site. Interplate Nippe Ceramo NQA997 pre-construction primer is the preferred primer. In this case, the preconstruction primer should be applied at 0.6-1.0 MDFT.; 02.4.5 REQUIREMENTS DURING COATING APPLICATION AND CURING Prior to coating, all adjacent surfaces shall be fully protected in accordance with this specification.; All surfaces shall be kept dry, clean, and free of rust and foreign matter at the time of application of any coating and throughout the curing period.; All products shall be applied, mixed, and thinned according to manufacturer’s recommendations. All surfaces shall be prepared according to published recommendations from the manufacturer. Coating application shall be completed in a professional workmanlike manner. All coatings shall be applied to clean, dry surfaces.; Coatings shall be applied under environmental conditions conforming to the manufacturer’s recommendations as listed on the manufacturer’s published data sheets for the coatings being applied. Coatings shall not be applied at ambient or surface temperatures less than the minimum application temperature recommended by the manufacturer for the particular coating involved. No coating shall be applied when the dew point temperature is equal to or greater than the surface temperature of the surface to be coated. Painting in the rain and when the ambient temperature is below 36 degrees Fahrenheit is strictly prohibited.; 02.5.5 SURFACE COATING; All required surfaces shall be coated as follows: Apply 1 full coat Intershield 300 (or 300V), Bronze @ 6.0 MDFT; Apply 1 full coat Intershield 300 (or 300V), Aluminum @ 6.0 MDFT; Apply 1 full coat Interspeed BRA 642 Black AF @ 5.0 MDFT; Apply 1 full coat Interspeed BRA 642 Red AF @ 5.0 MDFT.; The boot top, starting at 11’-0” above baseline up to 12’-6” above baseline, as shown in Reference (1) shall be coated with one additional coat of antifoulant as follows: Apply 1 full coat Interspeed BRA 642 Black AF @ 5.0 MDFT.; Hull Sides, which includes: all exterior hull side surfaces from the top of the boot top up to the top of the bulwark cap, the top of the bulwark cap, the inboard edge of the bulwark cap, the bulkheads and ceiling enclosing both the port and starboard life raft embarkation stations, and the outboard stack bulkheads between FR 47 and FR 63. As shown in the Reference (1), the top of the boot top is located at 12’-6” above baseline. The majority of the Hull Sides is blue, however the Hull Sides also includes the yellow stripe below the Focsle Dk.; Total Hull Sides area is approximately 7,000 square feet.; All required surfaces shall be coated as follows: Apply 1 full coat Interzinc 52 @ 3.0 MDFT; Apply 1 full coat Intershield 300 (or 300V), Bronze @ 6.0 MDFT; Apply 1 full coat Intershield 300 (or 300V), Aluminum @ 6.0 MDFT; Apply 1 full coat Interthane 990 Series @ 2.0 MDFT; Apply 1 full coat Interthane 990 Series @ 2.0 MDFT.; Final coat colors shall be as follows, and as shown in Reference (1): Hull: PHE992 Ocean Blue; 300 Stripe: PHB134 Yellow; Hull Markings: PHB000 White.; All hull markings (name, draft marks, bow thruster mark, propeller mark, etc.) and the yellow strip at the focsle shall be coated as shown in Reference (1). Final colors for these markings shall be white or yellow, as indicated above and required by Reference (1).
