Specifications include, but are not limited to: To provide psychiatric medical consultation around individuals with DD with complex needs who are experiencing, or are at high risk of experiencing, a crisis. The aim of these activities is to provide psychiatric medical consultation regarding these individuals to DDSD staff involved with these situations that will result in individuals receiving necessary and appropriate treatment, support, and services during a crisis and, whenever possible, to avert a crisis through pro-active intervention. The Psychiatric Medical Consultant providing consultation services will, when necessary, serve as a liaison with hospitals, medical professionals and other state agencies and collaborate with them to ensure that individuals with DD have access to necessary treatment, services and supports to resolve or avert a crisis.
