Specifications include, but are not limited to: Cleaning: A. No such cleaning shall occur until proper approval is received from the Kanawha County Schools Executive Director of Maintenance, Jeremy G.; B. The entire system – Fan, Ductwork, and Hood must be thoroughly cleaned. Cleaning only the inside of the hood and not the entire system will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate termination of the contract. The standard for what constitutes clean is bare metal in all accessible sections of the systems.; C. Vendors must use a pressure washer with self-contained water heating system, to clean and rinse using 180-190 degree water. System must be a minimum 3,000 PSI at 4 gallons of water per minute with a foaming chemical applicator with high-speed rotating nozzles to remove stuck-on grease and grime.; D. Cleaning Chemical: Must be a sodium Hydroxide based cleaning solution. Sodium Hydroxide solution must be applied in foamed form to ensure proper coverage and emulsification of the grease. Foam may be compressed air or airless method. Solution may not be applied utilizing a pump up sprayer or other similar method.; E. All used cleaning chemical, liquefied grease, and final rinse water must be properly disposed and shall not be directly discharged to the floor. Expended chemicals, grease and final rinse water must not be poured down outside drains.; ACCESS PANELS: A. Check area above ceiling for access panels in ductwork. Paperwork should note if any present, but always confirm. If present: a. Take picture of ductwork before; b. Scrape up ductwork to fan or next panel; c. Scrape down ductwork to hood or next panel; d. Foam ductwork with cleaning chemical; e. Allow to sit for at least 5 minutes to emulsify grease—Do not foam any fusible links in ductwork; HOODS: A. Scrape grease buildup in tracks, hood, and up ductwork; B. Foam hood with cleaning chemical—Allow to sit for approximately 5 minutes to emulsify grease—Do not foam fusible links; C. Rinse hood with hot water – 180-190 degrees; D. Re-scrape as required and polish with stainless steel any remaining grease buildup; E. Dry hood
