Specifications include, but are not limited to: 3.3.1 Micro-Milling, Contract Item A: Where HFST already exists on the road surface, the HFST must first be removed by Micro-Milling prior to any other surface application, including HFST, paving, or other surface treatments. Micro-Milling shall be performed in accordance with Standard Specs 415. The hauling and disposal of milled materials are the responsibility of the Vendor, and such expenses should be anticipated and factored into the Micro-Milling bid price.; When Micro-Milling is requested in conjunction with the application of HFST, no separate mobilization shall be charged, only one mobilization charge for HFST. When Micro-Milling performed as a stand-alone service, not to be followed by the re-application of HFST by the Vendor, mobilization may be charged. Micro-Milling shall be charged by the square yard.; 3.3.2 Surface Preparation, Contract Item B: Surface Preparation shall be done in accordance with Section 406.5 of the Special Provision Section 406, High Friction Surface Treatment, Exhibit 1 (EXH 1), as amended. The WVDOH Engineer or their designee will indicate on the Delivery Order whether pavement markings are to be covered or removed.; 3.3.2.1 Removal or Covering of Pavement Markings: The District Engineer or their designee will determine whether pavement markings shall be covered or removed. Removal of pavement markings unit of measure varies with the type of pavement marking, as indicated on the Pricing Pages, Attachment A (ATT A). When Raised Pavement Markings (RPM’s) removal is required, the pothole left behind shall be repaired by the Vendor. Pothole Repair shall be charged by the ton. Pothole Repair shall be in accordance with Pothole Detail, Exhibit 2 (EXH 2).; 3.3.2.2 Crack/Joint Sealing: Where Crack/Joint Sealing is necessary prior to the HFST application, the sealed surface will need to cure for 30 days prior to application of HFST. Crack/Joint Sealing shall be charged per linear foot.; 3.3.3 High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST), Contract Item C: This work shall consist of all equipment, material, delivery, and labor required for the installation of High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST), including any incidentals. HFST material shall be composed of binder material and aggregate in accordance with Special Provision Section 406, High Friction Surface Treatment, Exhibit 1 (EXH 1), as amended. Labor shall include all work required for the installation of HFST, and the cleanup of excess aggregate and the project site upon completion. HFST is charged by the square yard.; HFST shall be installed in reasonably close conformity with the lines, grades, thicknesses, and cross sections shown on the plans or established by the District Engineer or their designee.; The Vendor shall ensure that a manufacturer’s representative is on site to provide technical assistance during the startup operations and as necessary during the surface preparation, material placement and during any necessary remedial work.; 3.3.3.1 Equipment used for the HFST installation must be in accordance with Section 406.5 of Special Provision Section 406, High Friction Surface Treatment, Exhibit 1 (EXH 1), as amended.; 3.3.3.2 Application of binder and aggregate for HFST application must be in accordance with Section 406.5 and Section 406.8 of Special Provision Section 406, High Friction Surface Treatment, Exhibit 1 (EXH 1), as amended.
