Specifications include, but are not limited to: parent-community partnership to improve student achievement, this program shall: I. Provide training to parents whose children are served by the school or district, as appropriate, in understanding such topics as the challenging state academic standards, state and local academic assessments, the requirements of Title I, and how to monitor a child’s progress and work with educators to improve the achievement of their children. II. Provide parents with effective tools/scenarios to help them identify parenting styles including nurturing, discipline, and punishment. III. Provide materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve their children’s achievement, such as literacy and numeracy training and using technology (including education about the harms of copyright piracy), as appropriate, to foster parent engagement. IV. Provide training to parents on the importance of the goal setting process including developing their vision, goals, objectives and action plan to develop their children’s academic success (including identifying and removing obstacles to success. V. Provide training to parents regarding the importance of high school graduation, post-secondary education, job skills training, etc.).
