Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Master Planning – Analysis of possible locations for future thermal and electrical energy districts on campus.; 2. Thermal Energy Analysis and Modeling – Determine individual building heat loads and aggregate districtwide loads. Use information to recommend buildings or building assets that should be connected for energy sharing purposes and to inform decisions on sizing of equipment and distribution pipes.; 3. Mechanical System Design – Provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design services associated with energy district infrastructure, connection to building mechanical systems and renovation of building mechanical systems. Includes services across all design phases: schematic design, design development and construction document.; 4. Geothermal System Analysis and Design – Provide services associated with analysis and installation of geothermal borefields. Includes analysis of site variables and thermal conductivity tests. Includes assessment and design of closed loop heat exchanger options such as number of circuits, bore depth and manifold configuration.; 5. Electrical Supply and Distribution Analysis and Design – Provide services associated with the development of distributed electrical energy resources, such as photovoltaics and battery storage systems.; 6. Mechanical System Automation and Controls – Provide design of control system components and sequences of control associated with operation of geothermal systems, thermal energy districts and building mechanical systems.; 7. System Metering – Provide design of metering systems that will determine energy use by thermal and electrical energy districts, specific buildings other energy district assets.; 8. System Performance Evaluation – Evaluate performance of operational geothermal systems, energy districts and building level mechanical systems. Includes analyzing available data from building control systems or metering systems and recommending changes to operating parameters.; 9. Construction Estimates – Provide cost estimates of varying detail at all design phases: schematic design, design development and construction document. Includes preliminary lump sum estimates and detailed lineitem budget estimates. Includes working with contractors and equipment suppliers as needed.; 10. Bidding Assistance – Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, answer questions/clarifications during bidding, and review and evaluate submittals and claims for extra costs.; 11. Construction Administration – Participate in on-site construction meetings, provide construction inspections, prepare punch list and advise MSU regarding interpretations of contract documents and payments to contractors when requested.
