Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Matanuska-Susitna Borough requests bids from interested contractors to design and build a 33,000 gallon fire suppression water storage tank, pump, and paved area to provide water supply for firefighting apparatus tank filling. Contractor shall design, provide all materials, construct and/or install a 33,000 gallon underground water storage tank, an electrically driven submersible pump with a 4” Storz outlet and cap that is capable of filling fire apparatus tanks at 300 gallons per minute at the apparatus fill point, a separate 6” diameter riser with Storz fitting for drafting and filling reservoir with tankers if desired. It is expected that the tank will be buried deep enough to not freeze. Insulation can be provided above the tank to also prevent freezing. Contractor to provide design analysis showing that the water in the tank won’t freeze. The above ground plumbing items and control panel are to be protected by a heated and insulated weather shelter with interior lighting to have sufficient room for adapters and hoses. The pump operating panel is to be placed on the exterior side of the weather enclosure protected from the high pressure above ground plumbing lines. Protect this enclosure with bollards. The top of the tank should be fitted with a manway cover for inspection and maintenance purposes. The tank is to be supplied by an underground water fill line plumbed from domestic water source inside fire station and heat traced. Provide a paved access pad and driveway to support filling operation of fire apparatus up to 80,000 pounds with consideration of apparatus turning radius.
