Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Identify areas of the State that meet the federal criteria for Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA), Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas, Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas, Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUA/MUP), and Governor’s Exceptional Medically Underserved Population Areas. 2. Develop a Statewide Rational Service Area (SRSA) plan to identify and submit pockets of unmet need for designation. 3. Organize and prioritize new shortage area designation and redesignation requests; and prepare the Federal Shortage Designation applications for review and signature by program staff. 4. Aid in the development and review of provider surveys and analysis for the Health Professions Data Center (HPDC) – from which data will supplement shortage designation work. 5. Conduct an overall primary care needs assessment to identify and report on key barriers to access to health care for these communities.
