Specifications include, but are not limited to: The project objective is to increase produce processing capacity at Point Mack Correctional Farm (PMCF), and reduce waste, while providing a more efficient processing plant layout. Secondary project objectives included significantly increasing frozen food storage capacity onsite. The processing plant will be constructed in the existing barn, which will require an extension of existing utilities and renovation of the building. The goal of this project is to construct an efficient and cost-effective processing plant for Department of Corrections (DOC) inmate-grown vegetables. Produce processing will include automated blanching, cooling and long-term freezer storage. Work of the project includes design and construction of the plant building, processing equipment layout and installation.
